Steven Bennetts
Software Engineer at Google
Steven Bennetts is a seasoned professional with a background in the gaming industry and tech companies. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and embarked on his career at Atari Games, later acquired by Midway Games, where he contributed as Lead Programmer on popular arcade games such as Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet Dark Legacy.
After spending nine years at Atari/Midway, Steven took a break in Melbourne, Australia, working on conversion projects for Tantalus Interactive. Upon his return to the Bay Area, he contracted with Cryptic Studios, notable for his work on the superhero cape code for City of Heroes. He then joined Linden Lab, a small 20-person company at the time, where he eventually became the Engineering Director, overseeing the development of the Second Life Viewer.
With five years of experience at Linden Lab, Steven made the transition to Google, where he is currently involved in projects related to the Chrome browser and Chrome OS. His specialties include Technical Direction, C++ Development, 3D Graphics, User Interfaces, and Software Architecture.
