Steve Johnson

Steve Johnson is the Founder and President of LightWave Solar, a company he established in 2006.13 He is a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer with over 30 years of experience in the electrical construction business, including solar PV experience dating back to 1998.1 Johnson holds the second NABCEP certification in Tennessee and an unlimited TN Electrical Contractors License with a Solar Panel Installation designation.1

Johnson started LightWave Solar because he believed in the environmental and economic benefits of solar power.2 Under his leadership, the company grew from first-year revenue of $450,000 to $2.7 million in 2008.2 LightWave Solar has since completed over 1,400 PV systems, totaling over 80MW for businesses, municipalities, and homeowners.5

Steve Johnson has been instrumental in advancing solar energy in Tennessee. He worked diligently with the TVA and the State of Tennessee to create their first solar programs.4 Johnson is also responsible for the first solar interconnections with over 70 electrical distributors and was the 2007 recipient of the TN Million Solar Roofs "Solar Star" award.1

Personally, Johnson lives in Cane Ridge with his wife, Carla, and has two children who were in college as of the time the information was published. He has a 7kW solar PV system on his home, an off-grid system on his barn, and a solar-powered golf cart.1
