Fernando J. Vigil is the Owner/Principal of Industrial Solar Consulting, Inc., bringing over 15 years of experience in engineering, designing, consulting, construction, and management of off-grid, hybrid, micro-grid, and commercial photovoltaic (PV) systems.
With a background in both off-grid and grid-connected solar systems, Fernando's expertise spans various areas including site feasibility studies, design, management, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.
His career journey started at Arizona State University, where he earned a Masters of Science in Renewable Energy with a thesis on 'Hybrid photovoltaic-fuel cell power supply for off-grid security systems'.
During his tenure as a Lead PV Systems Engineer at Kyocera Solar, Fernando was involved in numerous off-grid solar projects, further enriching his experience in the field.
Through roles at Salt River Project (SRP) and as a certified NABCEP solar installer, Fernando's knowledge expanded to include designing electrical distribution layouts and hands-on installation experience.
In 2010, Fernando founded Industrial Solar Consulting, Inc. (ISC) with a focus on offsetting fossil fuel use, reducing operating expenses of off-grid installations, and advancing cutting-edge technology in off-grid, hybrid, military, and micro-grid renewable energy systems with a significant impact on reducing carbon footprint.
ISC, under Fernando's leadership, has served as a federal contractor, consulting on and designing systems for domestic and international deployment, as well as catering to commercial needs, rural electrification, and emergency response.
Fernando's educational background includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology with a minor in Security Technology and Intelligence Studies from New Mexico State University and a M.S. in Energy Systems Engineering with a concentration in Renewable Energy from Arizona State University.
His project experience boasts over 85 designed and installed photovoltaic projects, over 1.2MW of Off-grid PV, over 10MW of Construction Management experience, and over 16MWh of Energy Storage installed and commissioned.
Throughout his career, Fernando has held various roles such as President and PV Systems Design Engineer at ISC, Director of System Design and Technical Training at Apollo Solar, PV System Design Engineer/Electrical Engineer at Kyocera Solar, Inc., and Distribution Design Consultant/Multi-skilled Designer at Salt River Project.
