Stephanie Cheng Smith is a versatile professional in the field of music composition, performance, and programming, known for her interactive pieces, installations, improvisations, and through-composed works.

She integrates electronics, violin, and light in her creations, with a particular focus on motor arrays highlighted in the 2016 issue of Experimental Music Yearbook.

Stephanie has showcased her talents in various prestigious venues and events globally, including Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music (STEIM), PACT Zollverein, liebig12, Re-New Digital Arts Festival, EcoSono, Centre for the Living Arts, Megapolis Arts Festival, Machine Project, LA Film Forum, REDCAT, and SASSAS.

She is active under the pseudonym Stephie's Castle for her electronic music performances and is a valuable member of bitpanic, a networked music ensemble. Stephanie has also contributed to the Dog Star Orchestra as a composer and performer.

With a profound educational background, Stephanie Smith holds an MFA in Experimental Sound Practices and Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts, where she studied under notable mentors like Mark Trayle, Sara Roberts, and Ulrich Krieger. Additionally, she pursued composition studies at the University of Chicago.

Stephanie's extensive skill set encompasses Interactive Media and Audio tools such as Max/MSP, PureData, ChucK, Processing, Arduino, and more. She is proficient in Full Stack Web Development technologies like JavaScript, Node.js, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, Python, Django, WordPress, and various other related tools. Stephanie is also recognized for her adaptability and eagerness to learn new languages and tools.

In her professional journey, Stephanie has held diverse roles including Full Stack Engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and key positions related to web development and strategy at California Institute of the Arts. She has also contributed her expertise to organizations like Charlie/FabFitFun, The University of Chicago, and Hyde Park Youth Symphony.

Currently, Stephanie serves on the Artistic Advisory Board of the wulf. where she curates and produces experimental music concerts in the Los Angeles region, showcasing her passion for pushing boundaries in the realm of music composition and performance.
