Smita Bhatia is an accomplished Indian-born American oncologist who has made significant contributions to the field of cancer research and survivorship.1 She served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Population Sciences at City of Hope Cancer Center from September 1996 to December 2014, a position she held for over 18 years.3

Dr. Bhatia completed her medical degree and residency at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences before moving to Minnesota for her postdoctoral fellowship.1 During her training, she also earned a Master's degree in public health and received the 1996 Young Investigator Award from Conquer Cancer.1
