Chi Van Dang

Dr. Chi Van Dang is the Scientific Director of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in New York, overseeing operations at branches in Lausanne, Oxford, and San Diego, as well as promoting collaborations among six Ludwig research centers.

Before joining Ludwig, Dr. Dang served as the Director of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, initiating Translational Centers of Excellence to advance cancer research and treatment efforts.

At Johns Hopkins, he held multiple prestigious roles including the Johns Hopkins Family Professor in Oncology Research, Vice Dean for Research, and Director of the Institute for Cell Engineering.

Dr. Dang is a member of several renowned medical and scientific organizations and has authored numerous publications contributing to the understanding of cancer biology, particularly the function of the MYC oncogene.

His research has been pivotal in establishing the connection between the MYC cancer gene and cellular energy metabolism, highlighting the significance of fuel sources in cancer progression.

He holds a comprehensive educational background with degrees in Internal Medicine, Hematology-Oncology, Chemistry, and Medicine from institutions like Johns Hopkins University, University of California, San Francisco, and Georgetown University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Dang has been dedicated to mentoring and supporting emerging physician-scientists, Ph.D. candidates, and post-doctoral fellows in their research pursuits.
