Shelby Anderson is an accomplished academic who has extensive expertise in research and teaching. As an Associate Professor at Portland State University, she has spent many years in the field of earth sciences, specializing in hydrology, geomorphology, and ecohydrology. She began her academic journey at Pomona College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in environmental analysis. From there, Anderson continued her studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she obtained both her Master's and Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Her research work spans the globe, including studies in the western United States, Chile, Argentina, and southern Africa. Anderson has received numerous grants and awards for her research, including the National Science Foundation's CAREER award. At PSU, she teaches courses on hydrology, water resources, and quantitative analysis techniques, and has supervised many graduate and undergraduate students' research work.
