Shameer Khanal

Shameer Khanal is a seasoned senior executive with over 16 years of experience in international development, specializing in areas such as value chain, rural finance, and agriculture. He has worked in various regions like South Asia, South East Asia, CIS countries, and North America.

Currently serving as the Programme Head for the Sustainable Economic Development Programme in Kyrgyzstan with the German Development Cooperation, Shameer is known for his strategic planning skills and expertise in promoting systems thinking and innovation in projects.

Shameer Khanal holds a rich educational background, including certificates in Project Management from Stanford University and Public Administration from Hertie School of Governance. He also completed his MBA in Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University, along with other degrees in Business and Commerce.

With a track record of contributing significantly to the portfolio of the German Development Cooperation, Shameer has experience in project conceptualization, planning, and implementation across multiple countries. He has forged strong partnerships with various stakeholders in the international development arena.

In his professional journey, Shameer Khanal has held key positions within organizations such as Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, where he served as Head of Programmes, Deputy Head of Programme, Team Leader, Deputy Director, and Component Leader. He has also been an Adjunct Faculty at Kathmandu College of Management and worked as a Business Analyst Consultant and Graduate Assistant in different capacities.

Known for his negotiation expertise, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, Shameer excels in executing complex operations in challenging environments worldwide.
