Conversa is an intelligent Patient Relationship Management (PRM) platform that allows doctors to deliver continuous, personalized 'digital check ups', which secures and analyses patient generated data helping improve engagement, outcomes and satisfaction while lowering costs.

Our platform provides a personalized patient engagement service, helping physicians to engage their patients between visits in order to improve outcomes, improve patient satisfaction, and meet the growing demands of performance-based payment.

■ During my time as the CTO, the company grew from its $2M seed round through a Series B with a total of $17M raised.
■ Developed a program of craft-based Software Engineering, based on a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and equity
■ Responsible for developing Conversa’s technology strategy, including the adoption of new technologies such as Machine Learning 
■ Responsible for communication of the technology strategy to the Conversa Board of Directors, at quarterly Board Meetings
■ As Conversa's Chief Security Officer, responsible for all programs and processes related to HIPAA compliance.
■ Led Conversa's HITRUST self-assessment efforts in preparation for a full audit & certification
■ Led the design and modernization of Conversa’s deployment architecture from the humble “2 EC2s and an ELB” beginnings, to a fully auto-scaled, Docker-based infrastructure, fully-automated with Terraform.
■ Led the migration from EC2-based PostgresQL instances to RDS, as part of developing the DR and Backup strategies.
■ Developed the Engineering management team and structure.
■ Grew the engineering department from 2 to 12 while managing our early-funding budget and runway.  Hiring focused on cultural values, with a focus on technical as well as interpersonal skill.
■ Led the transition from a full Ruby on Rails monolith to a service-based architecture, supporting increased developer efficiency, while adopting new languages to the stack, specifically React and Elixir

Chief Technology Officer

■ During my time as a leader of Mobile Engineering at Walmart, the department grew from $16M in revenue from two eCommerce Apps, to $1.2B in revenue from six eCommerce Apps.
■ Responsible for the direction and delivery of mobile eCommerce development for Walmart, Sam’s Club, and ASDA mobile apps.
■ Responsible for recruiting, staffing, and organization for iOS and Android engineering teams, both software and quality engineers. Defined the best practices for hiring for all engineering teams looking to work on the apps.
■ Built the mobile management team, both promoting from within and recruiting candidates.
■ Responsible for the Portland Office, leading construction and improvement projects, ensuring a strong office culture, as well as developing our process for keeping our remote workers engaged.
■ Grew the mobile engineering department from 9 engineers to 52 (34 FTE/18 Contractors). Currently leading both Engineering and QA for the Mobile department, with a keen focus on quality, CI/CD, automation, and release improvements. With this work as a foundation, we will be able to adopt new mobile OS features in real time and deliver innovation to our millions of customers.
■ Created the team that developed the React-based web platform, Electrode. This project stemmed from a desire to make Walmart a great place to be a web developer, and the cultural shift that has ensued has been very rewarding.
■ Led the Front End Ops team that created the web-based large scale CI and Testing platform, TestArmada. This tool allows for massive parallel test automation, with dashboards, reporting, and retry logic to significantly reduce test flake.

Director of Engineering, Portland Site Lead

■ Responsible for the delivery of Walmart eCommerce three iOS apps - Walmart, Sam’s Club, and ASDA.
■ Started the Sam’s Club mobile team, recruiting and staffing the team that would ship a new Universal app for that business in 6 months.
■ Built an expanded team for ASDA to convert their outsourced iPhone app into a Universal app.
■ Introduced best practices to the engineer’s day-to-day work. Pull Request & verification, Unit Testing, Jenkins for automated builds, Instruments for UI Automation.
■ Responsible for educating the executive team on the constraints of mobile development, and being the team’s advocate for fast adoption of iOS updates and new features.
■ Wrote Objective-C roughly one day a week, and shipped code in all three iOS apps.

Sr. Engineering Manager, iOS

■ Led engineering teams that delivered Forrester Wave-leading email and SMS Marketing platforms.
■ Led development on a market-leading SMS platform for direct customer engagement.
■ Managed up to eleven Software and QA engineers. Actively engaged in recruiting new talent.
■ Worked with the VP of Engineering and the Product Management team to define product and technical roadmaps.
■ Reported to Executive team on all milestones and release dates. Used Jira, Greenhopper and Confluence integration to remove most of the Project Management overhead.
■ Worked with fellow Development Manager to consolidate two siloed engineering teams into one, sharing knowledge and responsibilities across the organization.
■ Built relationships with stakeholders in Operations, Account Management, Client Services, and Client Services Engineering organizations.
■ Acted as Release Manager, coordinating efforts with Sys Admins and DBAs on all production updates.
■ Managed transition from hosted QA servers to AWS stacks for on-demand test environments.

Yesmail Interactive

Development Manager

■ New team tasked with turning Yesmail’s legacy email marketing platform into a Forrester Market Leader. Product is for marketers to build, target, and analyze large email and social marketing campaigns.
■ From 2006-2008, the team built Enterprise 6. Google Web Toolkit (we launched on version 0.8) was used to build the interface, Spring and Hibernate on the back end to manage Oracle schemas.
■ From 2009 – 2011, the team built Enterprise 7. E7 split the application into a Javascript client and a RESTful service layer.

Sr. Software Engineer

■ Developed HIPAA secure eligibility processing systems for all Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP populations in Florida, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Virginia.
■ Senior Engineer on a project that replaced the company’s Cobol/Powerbuilder/Mainframe system with an Ajax-based front end backed by Hibernate and Spring.
■ Worked with management on RFPs for contracts in Florida and South Carolina. Responsibilities included creating estimates for all scope in the proposal, as well as defining high-level iterations, milestones, and resource requirements.

Xerox/ACS

Lead Software Developer

■ Helped develop the first single sign-on system at the bank, integrating authentication across eCommerce, Brokerage, and Billpay.
■ Designed architecture for integrating new third party billpay software into Wachovia authenticated space. Job responsibilities included technical design, hardware design, cost analysis, network planning, development resource allocation, team management, and communicating to upper management.
