Sam Himelstein, PhD is a clinical psychologist, speaker, and expert in trauma-informed care, substance abuse treatment, and mindfulness. As a co-founder and CEO of Parent Spring, Inc., Himelstein provides proactive education and training memberships for parents with children of all ages. Drawn to clinical psychology due to his own struggles as a teenager with addiction, trauma, and juvenile hall, he specializes in working with substance-using, incarcerated adolescents and their families.

Himelstein has also worked as a psychologist for Kaiser Permanente, as well as a Behavioral Health Clinician II for Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Service's Guidance Clinic. In addition, he has founded and directed several organizations including Family First Psychotherapy, the Center for Adolescent Studies, and served as the Research Director for Mind Body Awareness Project.

He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Sofia University, and has studied at the University of California, Santa Cruz, among other institutions. Himelstein often provides interdisciplinary continuing education and professional development training for educators and mental health professionals seeking to improve their skills in authentic relationship building, resilience and self-care, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care.
