Sam Austin, PhD
Sam Austin is a highly experienced structural engineer with expertise in design and analysis across multiple industries, including automotive, aviation, manufacturing, construction, defense, and energy. With a PhD in structural engineering and a focus on the finite element method (FEM), he offers a comprehensive range of services, covering conceptual design, finite element analysis, manufacturing support, problem identification, retrofits, safety evaluation, structural analysis, technical peer review, and virtual prototyping.
Sam has worked extensively with different standards and regulations, including AISC, ASTM, ASME, and NCHRP, among others. He has experience working with diverse materials, such as steel, wood, ceramics, and carbon fiber. His FEA experience includes a wide array of simulations, ranging from static and dynamic analysis, to buckling and modal simulations, as well as response spectrum, fatigue, fracture, and fluid-structure interaction.
In his work, Sam Austin uses CAE programs for numerical simulations and CAD programs for 2D-3D conversion, detailing, and interference analysis.
