Sam Aminfard

Sam Aminfard is currently the Upstream GHG Adviser at ExxonMobil, a position he has held since November 2023. In this role, he is responsible for advising on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management within the upstream sector of the company. Prior to this, he served as the Methane Emissions Research Lead at ExxonMobil from January 2022 to November 2023, and as a Senior Research Engineer from February 2019 to December 2021.1

Aminfard's academic background includes a PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on complex energy systems. His doctoral projects involved the electrification of oil and gas wells using distributed energy and the desalination of brackish groundwater with integrated renewable energy. He also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and a Graduate Teaching Assistant during his time at the university.1
