    Russell Barton is a Distinguished Professor at Penn State with a courtesy visiting appointment at Durham University until 2022. He has held various significant roles in academia, including being a Senior Associate Dean in the Smeal College of Business and serving at NSF as a Program Director, managing research funding.

    Dr. Barton has a background in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and has been involved in curriculum development, particularly in the Learning Factory program, which was recognized with the NAE Gordon Prize in 2006.     His educational background includes a B.S.E.E. from Princeton University and M.S./Ph.D. degrees in Operations Research from Cornell University.
