Alexander Brodsky
Alex Brodsky, a highly accomplished professor in the Department of Computer Science at George Mason University, has made significant contributions to Decision Support, Guidance and Optimization (DSGO) systems, with a particular focus on Manufacturing, Energy, Power, Sustainability and Supply Chain. With more than 120 published scholarly refereed journal and conference papers and seven Best Paper Awards to his name, Alex is an eminent researcher and educator with an impressive track record of professional achievements. He received a Ph.D. and prior degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Alex's work on DSGO systems has earned him several awards, including NSF CAREER, NSF Research Initiation, and awards from ONR, NASA, NIST, and Dominion Virginia Power.
Aside from his research, Alex has also co-chaired several international conferences, including the International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems, and served as the General Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence. He has also spoken at various events, including being a keynote speaker at ICEIS and ICTAI.
Before joining GMU, Alex had founded two companies: AdaptiveTrade and Adaptive Decisions. He led AdaptiveTrade as President and CEO through technology commercialization, two rounds of private and VC funding until 2001. He continued to serve as CTO and Chairman of AdaptiveTrade's Executive Committee until B2e Markets acquired the company. In 2004, Alex founded Adaptive Decisions, an optimization solutions company, which he currently heads.
Before his career in academia and the business sector, Alex worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center and was an R&D Officer in the IDF's C4I Corps.
