Russ Russell is an experienced fundraising professional who serves as the Chief Development Officer at Lighthouse, a nonprofit organization based in Oakland County that works to build equitable communities and alleviate poverty.1
In his role at Lighthouse, Russell is responsible for managing operations and resources related to fundraising, corporate giving, and development.12 He oversees all aspects of funding, communication, and events for the organization.1
Russell joined Lighthouse in 2019 and played a key role in steering the merger between South Oakland Shelter and Lighthouse of Oakland County to form the new Lighthouse organization.1 During the COVID-19 pandemic, he guided Lighthouse's response efforts, working with partners to significantly increase emergency shelter capacity and food distribution.1
With 40 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Russell has worked with local, national, and international organizations to help them reach their funding goals.1 Prior to joining Lighthouse, he held positions at Detroit PAL and Forgotten Harvest.1
Russell is a graduate of Mid America Nazarene University (1982) and holds the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive.1 He is actively involved in his community, serving on the Pontiac Farmers Market Board of Directors and volunteering on various projects with the Mayor of Pontiac.1 Russell resides with his family in Pontiac.1
