Roger Sloman

Roger Sloman is a renowned figure in the composite and advanced materials industry. He founded the Advanced Composites Group in 1975, which introduced carbon fiber into Formula One motor racing, and developed the company into a global operation specializing in novel prepreg materials for tooling, aerospace, and motor racing markets. The business eventually sold in 2004, but Sloman continued his work in the industry, establishing the Advanced Blast & Ballistic Systems (ABBS) Group in 2008. ABBS specializes in developing and marketing Active Armoured Vehicle Mine Protection (AMPS) technology and Helicopter Crash Protection Systems.

Sloman's expertise in the advanced materials industry stems from his educational background in Macromolecular Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry, having obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) First Class from the University of Hertfordshire. Through the various roles he has held in his career, including Chairman/Chief Executive of The Advanced Composites Group, Sloman has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, business acumen, and a keen eye for innovation. He continues to make significant contributions to the industry through his work at ABBS, as well as Active VTOL Crash Prevention Ltd. and Advanced Reaction Motor Systems Ltd.
