Rick Siger
Leader in Economic Development, Public Policy, and Higher Education
Rick Siger serves as the Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In this role, he is responsible for spearheading initiatives aimed at economic growth and community development throughout the state. His leadership is particularly focused on creating a comprehensive economic development strategy, which is Pennsylvania's first in nearly two decades, emphasizing key sectors such as Agriculture, Energy, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, and Robotics and Technology.1
Background and Experience::
- Prior to his current position, Siger was the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the President at Carnegie Mellon University, where he played a pivotal role in developing growth strategies for the university.1
- He has extensive public service experience, having served over seven years in various capacities under President Barack Obama, including as Chief of Staff at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Deputy Chief of Staff at the Department of Commerce.1
- In addition to his federal roles, Siger was also Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade in Virginia under Governor Tim Kaine and has served four terms as Mayor of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.1
