Richard Thomas

Richard Thomas is a Managing Director in the Portfolio Management team within Private Capital at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP). He joined OTPP in 2020 and works closely with portfolio companies in the Financial Services and Technology sectors.13 His role involves leading the identification and implementation of strategic priorities and value creation opportunities for these companies.2

Prior to joining OTPP, Richard held several executive positions, including:

1. Executive roles at Royal Bank of Canada, where he led the development of the bank's digital start-up arm at RBC Ventures and managed portfolios within Cards & Payments.2
2. Executive positions at HSBC and Sears Canada Financial Services.2
3. Strategy & Operations consultant at Deloitte in Europe and North America.2

Richard has a strong educational background, holding an MA from the University of St Andrews, an MBA from London Business School, and the Chartered Director (C.Dir) designation from the Directors College at McMaster University.12
