Have created and launched two new technology-driven social entrepreneurship classes for undergraduates. Because the students are both in person and online, we are using virtual teams to tackle important social challenges and issues across the globe. Working with several national award-winning colleagues, I helped create and launch the new 'MAKE Your Ideas Happen' classes at two different ASU campuses in the spring, 2013 semester. I taught several classes in Barrett, The Honors College at ASU's Tempe campus, and one of my seven student teams this semester won an ASU Innovation Challenge award. Another team won a $25,000 Ford College Community Challenge grant and a third has been featured in the news media, including an article on MSNBC. Have also created and successfully launched a new 'High School MAKE Workshop' program taught for students from the ASU Prep Academy.

The 2013 CTI Summer Academy included over a dozen summer camp sessions for high school (grades 9-12) and middle school students (grades 6-8). These include the nationally prominent Startup Academy (which I created and helped teach) with funding from Intel and MAC-6.

Through the innovative iProjects program, industry partners have the opportunity to engage with ASU students in a mutually beneficial relationship; challenges defined by industry partners are solved through the diligence of student teams working under the expertise of faculty members. Students, industry and the university all benefit. Helped guide the program through an operating transition to record-breaking size.

Launched the Engineering Projects In Community Service (EPICS) Program at ASU in summer 2009, a new high tech service learning and community service program in partnership with Purdue University.  EPICS students have already won several national awards for their innovation and fresh technology-based approaches to social entrepreneurship.

Open to all ASU undergraduate students, the program has three elements: 1. EPICS GOLD and EPICS Turquoise, a sequence of experiential learning classes that form multi-discliplinary undergraduate student teams with local, national, and international not-for-profit organizations, schools and government agencies to address real world social challenges and issues using technology; 2. EPICS Maroon Club, a community service club for ASU students partnering with the Valley of the Sun United Way, City of Phoenix and other organizations; 3. EPICS High School, including award-winning student teams from Xavier College Prep High School.

Provided coordination of global student and faculty programs for the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University.  Created and co-taught a new class on Global Engineering.  Served as faculty advisor for the ASU student chapters of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Bridges to Prosperity, IAESTE, Food for the Hungry, and the Global Futures Student Society.

High tech leadership development program for graduate and undergraduate students. In partnership with the United Way and United Way International, created community service components for CLP including the Students With Advanced Technologies (SWAT) and International SWAT (I-SWAT) programs.  Created global components for CLP including the Global Tech Leaders Symposium (GTLS), International Industrial Internship (I-Cubed) and the International CLP (I-CLP) consortium.

Was in charge of long range facilities planning for the Defense and Space Systems Group of Sperry Flight Systems, now Honeywell Aerospace. I worked on facilities being built and remodeled in metro Phoenix, Albuquerque and Tampa.

Was the industrial engineer for the facilities planning group at Garrett AiResearch, now Honeywell Aerospace. Designed layouts for factories, warehouses and offices, as well as developing site plans. Also, created and launched the successful 'ARPY' program for employees, raising $3500 for the Arizona Special Olympics by recycling aluminum cans.

Competitively selected for a corporate internship program. Along with University of Washington Professor Bert Drui and two other students, I co-authored the book 'Industrial Engineering in the Boeing Company.'

My responsibilities at MSR included product testing; I was involved in the invention of the company's revolutionary (and patented) multi-fuel stove and also the world's first self-cleaning ice screw (also patented). I also did drafting for new products; one time company founder Larry Penberthy, handed me a design he had sketched on a 2x4! I also wrote and illustrated the company's first product brochures.
