Rex Gibson is a seasoned data analytics professional with an extensive background in engineering, music production, and DBA. He holds a Diploma in College Prep from Norfolk High School and a B.M. in Jazz Studies and Music Technology from Webster University. Before joining Looker as the Director of Data & Analytics, Rex held several prominent positions such as Manager Data & Analytics at Google, Director of Data Insights at Knewton, Senior Data Engineer at Knewton, Data Lead & Senior DBA at OpenSky, Technical Configuration Analyst at the United Nations, and DBA at the Metropolitan Opera.

At Looker, Rex oversees the company's internal analytics and warehousing team with the mission to empower subject matter experts to make better data-driven decisions. He is passionate about Looker's ability to shorten the distance between data and insight, making the analytics process more efficient and cost-effective. Rex is actively recruiting data analysts, data engineers, and data architects to join his team and support Looker's growth.

Aside from his professional duties, Rex has been a freelance music producer and engineer, and a consultant for Alberici Constructors, Avatar Studios, and SAVVIS. In his free time, Rex enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, and traveling.
