Ramona's impact extends to the realm of robotics as well. She founded and coached the Hendley ES Robonauts Robotics Team, leading them to victory at the DC League State Championship and competing at the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship during its inaugural year in 2017-2018.
Furthermore, she has served as a DCPS District Course Chair for K-5 STEM Teachers from 2017 to 2019, facilitating professional development sessions and sharing her expertise to enhance STEM education across the district.
With a rich background in education leadership, Ramona has been the Site-Coordinator and DCPS Lead PLTW Launch Teacher at Hendley ES since 2016, contributing significantly to the school's academic programs and STEM initiatives.
Prior to her roles in Washington, D.C., Ramona served as the Physical Science Content Lead Teacher in Newton County Schools from 2014 to 2016, where she honed her teaching skills and curriculum development expertise.
Her experience also includes serving as the Science Department Chair in Atlanta Public Schools from 2010 to 2014, where she demonstrated strong leadership and a commitment to shaping effective science education programs.
Ramona Ussin-Hutchins pursued her education at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General, laying a solid foundation for her successful career in education.
