Pranav Premnath
Research Assistant at SETI Institute
Pranav Premnath, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Astronomy and Physics, has a distinguished background in research. His work with Drs. Brendan Bowler and Ya-Lin Wu involved computing masses of young stars using Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations, resulting in a first author publication in The Research Notes of the AAS. Notably, his research with Drs. Caitlin Casey and Justin Spilker focused on molecular gas in a high-redshift starburst galaxy, leading to another first author publication titled 'Evidence for a Buried AGN in an Extremely Bright Dusty Galaxy at z = 2'. Pranav has presented these projects at American Astronomical Society conferences in 2020 and 2021. He is a recipient of various scholarships from the Department of Astronomy and Physics at UT, including The Karl G. Henize Endowed Scholarship and The John W. Cox Endowment for the Advanced Studies in Astronomy. Pranav has also been actively involved in academia, serving as a Learning Assistant for astronomy courses, a mentor for the Freshman Research Initiative, and an officer for the Astronomy Students Association.
