    Pierce Ogden

Co-Founder and CSO at Manifold Bio

Pierce Ogden is a technology inventor, drug hunter, and expert in high throughput methods for biological investigation. He currently serves as the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Manifold Biotechnologies, where he conceived the innovative M-Codes technology enabling the tracking and measurement of hundreds and potentially thousands of protein therapeutic designs in vivo. With a team of 25 scientists, Pierce has successfully transformed M-Codes from a conceptual idea to a functional platform technology that facilitates the simultaneous tracking of numerous molecules in vivo, thus enhancing the development of better drug designs.

Prior to his role at Manifold, Pierce spearheaded projects in the Church lab involving the screening of hundreds of thousands of AAV variants using groundbreaking DNA synthesis and sequencing techniques that he developed. This groundbreaking work culminated in the establishment of Dyno Therapeutics, a prominent player in the gene therapy capsid design field.

Pierce Ogden's technical expertise spans across machine learning, programmatic DNA design, multiplex library methods, and drug discovery and development. He has shared his insights through numerous presentations at prestigious events and, alongside his fellow co-founders at Manifold Bio, played a pivotal role in formulating the narrative and materials that contributed to Manifold securing over $45 million in financing. Pierce has a rich educational background, holding a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Harvard University, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of San Francisco, and additional studies at San Diego State University.

Pierce Ogden's extensive professional experience includes key roles such as Co-Founder and CSO at Manifold Bio, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, Ph.D. Candidate at the George Church Lab at Harvard Medical School, Assistant Specialist at the Small Molecule Discovery Center at UCSF, Researcher/Programmer at the Shoicet Lab at UCSF, Account Executive/Recruitment at Central Payment, and Research Associate at the Zayas Lab at SDSU.
