Phillip (Phil) Eustace is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience as a Board Chair, Director, CFO, and COO, bringing a strong background in corporate governance, commercial expertise, and a proven track record of driving profit growth.
He has a multifaceted skill set encompassing corporate governance, financial management, business transformation, acquisitions and divestments, project management, product development, and capital structuring, including handling business IPOs.
With a diverse industry background spanning sectors like information technology, media, logistics, transportation, and waste management, Phil has effectively led business transformation projects and worked on digital product development in disruptive markets.
His extensive senior-level experience in public listed companies includes adeptly managing Board reporting, investor relations, market reporting, corporate finance, and risk and compliance functions, demonstrating his comprehensive understanding of corporate dynamics.
Phil's academic journey includes studying at Tauranga Boys College for his high school education and pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of Auckland.
He actively engages in professional memberships, being associated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand since 1982 and Governance New Zealand since the same year.
Throughout his career, Phil has held key leadership positions such as Chair of the Newspaper Publishers Association from 2002 to 2020 and Director roles in the APN News & Media group of New Zealand companies from 2002 to 2015.
Currently operating his consultancy, Phil Eustace Consultancy, he has previously served in interim CFO capacities at Gentrack Ltd, as a Board Chair at News Works NZ, and as COO at NZME.
Prior to his consultancy role, Phil held significant positions including CFO and CEO at APN New Zealand Media, CFO at Wilson & Horton, Director of Finance (Australia/New Zealand) at Avis Budget Group, and Group Finance Manager at Owens Group (formerly Mogal Corporation).
