Peter Downs
National Manager at Play by the Rules and Director, The Inclusion Club
Peter Downs is an experienced professional in the field of inclusion and diversity in sports, particularly focused on the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. He has over 30 years of experience and has held significant roles, including the National Manager for Play by the Rules, a national initiative aimed at promoting safe, fair, and inclusive sports from October 2013 to August 2021. In this capacity, he redeveloped the Play by the Rules portal and initiated various national campaigns and resources to enhance inclusivity in sports environments.1
Before his role at Play by the Rules, Downs managed the Australian Sports Commission's Disability Sport Unit for 17 years. He is also the founding director of The Inclusion Club, a not-for-profit organization that supports best practices in sports and physical activity for people with disabilities. His work has included collaborations with the Australian Human Rights Commission and contributions to various guidelines and resources aimed at improving inclusivity in sports.1
