Play Advocate at Lets Play America
Pat Rumbaugh is the co-founder and Executive Director of Let's Play America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting play for people of all ages.14 Known affectionately as "The Play Lady," Rumbaugh has been actively involved in advocating for play since 2009.1 She founded Let's Play America in January 2015 along with Daniel Nakamura to encourage daily play for individuals across all age groups.1
Rumbaugh's journey as a play advocate began in March 2009 when she formed a play committee in Takoma Park, Maryland, which later became TakomaPlays!1 This initiative led to Takoma Park being designated as a Playful City USA from 2009 to 2017.1
As Executive Director of Let's Play America, Rumbaugh has overseen the organization of over 25 Play Days in the past twelve years.2 She has also been instrumental in creating resources like the Play Day Handbook, which provides step-by-step guidance for communities wanting to organize their own play events.2
