Patrick McCully: Climate & Energy Thought Leader and Advocate
Patrick McCully is an experienced climate, water, and clean energy thought leader and advocate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has over 25 years of experience advocating for and implementing sustainability policies and projects.
McCully currently serves as the Climate & Energy Program Director at Rainforest Action Network (RAN).245 In this role, he has been vocal in pushing financial institutions like BlackRock and JPMorgan Chase to divest from fossil fuels and address their role in financing deforestation.2
Prior to joining RAN, McCully was the Executive Director of Black Rock Solar, a nonprofit that installed over 80 solar photovoltaic projects for nonprofits, schools, and municipalities in Nevada.13 He also previously served as the Executive Director of International Rivers, an environment and human rights advocacy group based in Berkeley, California.13
McCully has an extensive network of contacts among leaders in the environmental and solar energy community. He has written extensively on water, energy, climate, carbon trading, human rights and development policies, and given presentations at numerous universities around the world.1 He is the author of the book "Silenced Rivers: The Ecology and Politics of Large Dams", which has been translated into five languages.1
Originally from Northern Ireland, McCully has a B.A. in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Nottingham.1 He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
