Patrick Byrne, MD, MBA, FACS is the Chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Head and Neck Institute and the Chief of the Integrated Surgical Institute at Cleveland Clinic.13 He is internationally renowned for his expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, specializing in complex reconstructive surgery of the face, head and neck, including microsurgical reconstruction.1
Dr. Byrne previously served as the Director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.13 He was also a Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Dermatology and Biomedical Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.2
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Byrne has held several leadership positions, including serving as the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Medicine International affiliate hospitals in Panama and Tokyo.2 He also founded several healthcare startups and served as an early investor and Chief Medical Officer in others.3
Dr. Byrne is currently the President-Elect of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).14 He has also served on the Editorial Board for JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the AAFPRS.5
