Olga Skotareva

Olga Skotareva (also known as Olya Skotareva) is an experienced social and sustainability governance specialist with over 17 years of professional experience.1 She currently works as a Senior Safeguards Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the Philippines, a position she has held since June 2021.1

Prior to her current role, Olga worked as a Senior Consultant at Arup from July 2013 to June 2021, based in Birmingham, England.1 During her time at Arup, she led social due diligence, monitoring, and auditing assignments for multibillion-dollar projects, managing medium to small environmental and social teams and consultants.1

Olga's expertise includes:

1. Advising governments and private sector on implementing challenging and ambitious projects
2. Due diligence and assurance of project implementation to international environmental and social standards
3. Management of land acquisition and resettlement
4. Restoration and improvement of livelihoods of affected people
5. Gender mainstreaming

She has worked on significant projects worldwide, including the world's longest mid-span suspension bridge across the Dardanelles strait in Turkey, the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul, and railway and road networks in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Zambia.12

Olga holds an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has studied at various institutions, including the University of Maryland and the NATO School Oberammergau.1
