Oleksandr Maksymets

Oleksandr Maksymets is a Tech Lead and Research Engineer at Facebook AI Research (FAIR) with over a decade of industry experience, including more than five years at Facebook, where he focuses on challenges related to reasoning, navigation, and question answering using deep learning.

With a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a strong background in mathematics and algorithms, he is passionate about advancing Human level Artificial Intelligence and has a proven track record of delivering impactful projects in the NLP and machine learning domains. Oleksandr has also developed highly scalable systems serving billions of users and has been the first author of publications in prestigious AI conferences such as CVPR2019 and ICCV2019. Furthermore, he has played a role in organizing CVPR EmbodiedAI Workshops from 2019 to 2021.

His specializations include EmbodiedAI, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, Data Mining, and Computer Vision.

Oleksandr Maksymets pursued his education at various institutions, including Chernivtsi Lyceum #1, Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees.

Throughout his career, he has held positions such as AI Researcher, Software Engineer, Assistant Professor, and Chief Technology Officer at organizations like Facebook AI, Be Global Development Team, EPAM Systems, Terrasoft, and UMG.
