Ojok Okello
Senior Assistant Secretary - Makerere University - Founder & Executive Chairman - Okere City
Ojok Okello is a highly accomplished public servant, social entrepreneur, community organizer, and development manager with a rich academic background holding graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science and Makerere University.
With a passion for post-conflict reconstruction, Ojok has made significant contributions to the development of Northern Uganda through his work with organizations like War Child UK and Volunteer Efforts for Development Concern (VEDCO). He has also managed governance projects at the Uganda and South Sudan Office of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
In 2018, Ojok co-founded RISE-UP, an innovative initiative focused on the economic empowerment of urban refugees in Africa through the specialization in African fashions. Furthermore, he founded Okere City in 2019, an ambitious project aiming to develop a sustainable city in his rural village in Otuke District, Northern Uganda.
Ojok Okello is recognized for his leadership and vision, being an Ashoka Visionary Fellow, PfAL Fellow at LSE, and an alumnus of President Barack Obama's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in East Africa.
His educational journey includes a diverse range of qualifications, from a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies to a Master of Science in Development Management from LSE, showcasing his multidisciplinary approach towards development.
