Nyasa Hickey
Nyasa Hickey is an accomplished individual with a diverse educational background. She pursued a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cardozo School of Law, a Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Suny New Paltz. Furthermore, she delved into International Affairs at Bard College after graduating from Guilderland High School.
During her professional journey, Nyasa has held various key positions. She currently serves as the Director of Immigration Initiatives at Brooklyn Defender Services. Previously, she was the Immigration Counsel specializing in Immigration Practice at the same organization. Nyasa also contributed her expertise as an Adjunct Professor at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and as a Supervising Attorney for Padilla and Youth and Communities teams at Brooklyn Defender Services. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Staff Attorney in the Immigration Practice at Brooklyn Defender Services and as an Ella Baker Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR). Furthermore, Nyasa gained valuable experience as a Legal Intern at Kivulini Women's Rights Organization in Mwanza, Tanzania, an Advocate Law Student at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and a Program Assistant at New York University Center for Dialogues Islamic World-U.S.-The West.
