Nic Garcia

Nic Garcia is the Regions Editor at The Texas Tribune, a role he has held since August 2022. Originally from Pueblo, Colorado, he developed a passion for journalism while studying at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. His career began at Out Front, a prominent LGBTQ news organization in Denver, and he has since held various editorial and reporting positions at notable publications including The Denver Post, Chalkbeat, and The Dallas Morning News. Before joining The Texas Tribune, he served as the politics editor at The Des Moines Register.14

In his current position, Garcia is based in Dallas and oversees reporters in several Texas cities, including Lubbock, Lufkin, Odessa, and McAllen. His work involves covering a wide range of regional issues and ensuring comprehensive reporting across Texas.25 Additionally, Garcia is the owner of First Draft Notebooks, which is recognized for its quality among journalists.36
