Controversial Project: Ngoc Phan proposed using two robotic systems to fulfill online orders, one from Attabotics Inc. and another from Tompkins Robotics.24 The goal was to automate a facility in San Jose, CA, and then scale the automation across eight other fulfillment centers.4 However, according to Brittain Ladd, the project failed due to ego, poor leadership, and a flawed strategy, resulting in a waste of $50 million.24
