Nathaniel Petre

Nathaniel Petre, also known as Nate Petre, is a post-PhD researcher affiliated with the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London.

Innovative and environmentally conscious, Nate gained recognition for 3D printing the world's first surfboard crafted from algae, before focusing his efforts on repurposing ocean plastic waste for agile manufacturing processes.

His recent endeavors include overseeing the construction of the Caribbean's largest 3D printer and spearheading the establishment of Jamaica's pioneering 3D printed underwater sculpture park.

Advocating for sustainable practices, Nate's initiatives seek to empower communities and researchers alike by creating a framework for utilizing materials such as ocean plastic and biofabricated structures to support local economies and ecosystems.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Nate possesses a diverse educational background, having studied a blend of engineering, arts, and biology during his college years in New York City and beyond.
