    Naresh Thadhani is a distinguished Professor and former Chair of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Georgia Tech (GT) with extensive expertise in metallurgical engineering and materials science.

    With a strong academic background, he obtained his B.E. from Malaviya National Institute of Technology in India, M.S. from South Dakota School of Mines, and Ph.D. from New Mexico Tech, specializing in Metallurgical Engineering.

    Professor Thadhani's research primarily focuses on materials behavior under extreme conditions such as high-pressure shock-compression and high-strain-rate deformation, particularly studying shock-induced phase transformations and mechanical properties of various materials.

    Throughout his career, Professor Thadhani has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.S. students, mentored undergraduate researchers, and advised visiting scientists/post-docs, contributing significantly to the academic growth and research advancement.

    His remarkable contributions to the field have been recognized with research funding of over $17M from prestigious federal agencies and collaborations with national laboratories and industries.

    Professor Naresh Thadhani is a prolific author and editor, having co-edited 12 books/proceedings, published extensively in reputable journals, and delivered numerous invited talks and seminars globally. He is a Fellow of ASM International and the American Physical Society.
