I started and built a merchant focused organization within Mastercard.  Established strategic partnerships with the the leading merchants (retail, travel, digital) in Asia Pacific and Middle East - driving brand preference, customer monetization, marketing exposure, customer acquisition and product innovation.

I've led complex deals to rapidly expand Mastercard's business through partnerships with companies including Starwood, Alibaba, DFS, Nuance Watson, Lufthansa and Qoo10.  These partnerships were leveraged by banks across the region, leveraged in our Priceless Platform, and stimulated affluent consumer acquisition and cross border spending.

I also had the opportunity to drive the integration of our partnerships with CSR - leading to social giving programs such as Purchase with Purpose in markets such as Cambodia and Indonesia.

Head of Merchant Development & Acceptance - Asia Pacific & Middle East/Africa

What started from a technology test with some of the biggest retailers in Canada quickly evolved into a market transforming agenda.  Positioned MasterCard as the market and global leader in the advancement of NFC and contactless payments.  I drove the conversion of cash to digital payments using contactless payments as a lever to create new partnerships with retailers such as McDonalds, Tim Hortons and Coke and changed the utility of a traditional credit card.

The result was innovation at the point of sale, nation wide marketing programs, redefining how people pay and the inclusion of thousands of new retail locations.  Mastercard as a brand was now re-defined to millions of Canadians.

Product Solutions & Sales

Incubated and commercialized new programs and products with a focus on creating new ancillary revenue streams and customer engagement.  I launched the first global Prepaid/NFC product in partnership with Rogers Mobility, Peoples Trust and Mint Technology.  This program led to othe rollout of new programs with 7-11, Much Music and Money Mart.  Developed relationships with the major retail associations across Canada enabling Mastercard to reach thousands of new SME's.

Emerging Business Development

I joined Mastercard and built and developed relationships with new non-traditional financial institutions.  My portfolio included 1. U.S. monoline bank issuers - Capital One and 2. Canadian Retail Financial entrants - President's Choice Financial and Canadian Tire.  Developed customer acquisition plans with these partners that radically changed the Canadian payments landscape and grew Mastercard's market share.
