Nacho Solis

Nacho Solis is a distributed systems troublemaker and problem solver with a preference for platforms and infrastructure over verticals and single solutions. He excels in stream processing, networking, and operating systems.

He values whiteboards, presentations, structured arguments, general solutions, hash functions, pre-allocated buffer pools, avoiding system calls, vim, and zsh. Nacho emphasizes understanding opportunity costs, real reasons, repercussions, primitive functions, and design choice tradeoffs.

With a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz, an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, and a BS in Computer Science from the Universidad de Costa Rica, Nacho has a strong educational background.

Nacho Solis has held key roles at renowned organizations such as WhatsApp as a Software Engineer, LinkedIn as a Sr Engineering Manager, Staff Software Engineer, and Engineering Manager, and has also been Adjunct Faculty at Singularity University.

His experience extends to positions at PARC, where he served as Principal Researcher/Protocol Architect and held roles as Manager, Network Research, Senior Member of Research Staff, and Postdoc in Networking. Additionally, Nacho has worked as a Guest Researcher at UPMC - Sorbonne Universities and as a Research Intern at Nokia Networks.

Beyond his tech expertise, Nacho enjoys board games, hats, photography, biking, and travel as non-tech conversation starters.
