Mira Schor
Faculty at New School University
Mira Schor is a renowned painter, writer, and educator. She is currently an Associate Teaching Professor in the MFA Fine Arts Program at Parsons The New School for Design.35
Academic and Professional Background
Schor received her MFA in painting from CalArts in 1973, where she was a member of the Feminist Art Program.2 She has taught at various institutions, including NSCAD in Halifax, SUNY Purchase, Sarah Lawrence College, and RISD.1
Artistic Work
As a painter, Schor's work balances political and theoretical concerns with formalist and material passions. Her art often focuses on the representation of language in drawing and painting.12 She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including shows at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center and the Armand Hammer Museum.1
Writing and Editorial Work
Schor is also a prolific writer and editor. She co-founded and co-edits the art journal M/E/A/N/I/N/G with Susan Bee.1 She has authored books such as "Wet: On Painting, Feminism, and Art Culture" and co-edited "M/E/A/N/I/N/G: An Anthology of Artists' Writings, Theory, and Criticism".2
