Mike Spear

Mike Spear is the Director of External Relations at Iron & Earth, a position he has held since November 2022. He has a robust background in not-for-profit communications, with over 40 years of experience in broadcasting and media at various levels, including local, regional, and national platforms. His expertise includes content production, marketing, social media development, and public relations, particularly within the non-profit sector. Spear has also been involved in significant projects such as Olympic coverage and election reporting, showcasing his versatility in media roles.12

Before joining Iron & Earth, Spear served as the Director of Corporate Communications at Genome Alberta for nearly 15 years, where he managed public outreach, government relations, and social media strategies. His career also includes positions at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where he oversaw programming content, and at Alberta Beef Producers, where he managed marketing efforts for the industry.12
