Michelle Blanchard is a recognized leader in the field of mental health advocacy, research, and support. With a Ph.D. in Youth Mental Health, a Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health and Welfare, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Melbourne, Michelle brings a wealth of academic knowledge and professional experience to her current role as Deputy CEO at SANE Australia. Michelle is also the Founding Director of the Anne Deveson Research Centre and a former Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne's School of Psychological Sciences.
Michelle's passion for improving mental health care and reducing stigma has led her to take on various leadership roles in nonprofits such as the Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre, where she served as Head of Projects and Partnerships and Youth and Sector Engagement Manager. She also worked at The Butterfly Foundation as National Manager for Programs and Practice, where she spearheaded eating disorder support services for Australians. As an invited speaker and workshop facilitator, Michelle has shared insights on matters ranging from digital mental health support to reducing stigma in media representations of mental illness.
Michelle's areas of expertise include mental health research, advocacy, management, policy, and program development. Her experience with nonprofits, government, and the academic sector has honed her skills in community engagement, partnership building, strategic planning, and leadership. Michelle excels in bringing stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and interests together to achieve a common goal.
