Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson '96 is the Director of Alumni Relations at Carleton College.13 In this role, he provides strategic guidance to the Office of Alumni Relations and oversees several key programs and initiatives:

1. Guides the Alumni Adventures travel program
2. Serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Alumni Council of the Alumni Association
3. Supports the Multicultural Alumni Network (MCAN) and Out After Carleton (OAC)
4. Oversees the Alumni Relations Office staff

Thompson graduated from Carleton College in 1996 with a B.A. in History.2 He also holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.2

Prior to his current role at Carleton, Thompson had a career in publishing and product management. He worked at SAE International for over 16 years, most recently as the Director of Publishing & Information Products Group.2 In this position, he was responsible for defining, delivering, and growing products and services for the aerospace, automotive, and commercial vehicle sectors.2
