Michael Rossato-Bennett is an accomplished director, producer, and photographer known for his deep-rooted storytelling abilities. He has a passion for discovering the stories that lie beneath the surface and bringing about meaningful changes in the world. Rossato-Bennett studied film at Temple University and is a seasoned lighting expert. With over four decades of experience in the film and photography industry, he has a rich and diverse portfolio of work, having worked for National Geographic, Smithsonian, Islands Magazine, Travel and Leisure, and British Heritage, among others.
He founded a photo studio in Cincinnati in 1989 and has published two books. Rossato-Bennett also produces films for non-profits, and in 2014, his feature documentary 'Alive Inside' premiered at Sundance, where it won the coveted Audience Award for Documentary. The film went on to win numerous awards, such as the Milan, Provincetown, Berkshie, Sonoma and awards at SIFF, and Boulder, and is transforming the way the world cares for elders.
He is the founder and director of the Alive Inside Coalition, a non-profit organization dedicated to changing how we care for dementia, aging, and our relationship with life. Rossato-Bennett is currently working on several documentaries, including Brian's Songs and Alive Inside 2.
