    Michael Palumbo

    Conductor and Music Director at Chamber Orchestra Ogden

    Michael Palumbo is a seasoned musician and educator with a rich background in orchestral conducting and viola performance.

    He obtained his Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from Ball State University in 1981 and went on to serve as the Director of Orchestral Studies and Professor of Viola at Weber State University from 1982 to 2013.

    Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in various musical societies and organizations, such as co-founding the Utah Viola Society and serving as the National Secretary of the American String Teachers Association from 2004 to 2006.

    Palumbo has also held prestigious positions including President of the Utah Music Educators Association and is currently Professor Emeritus at Weber State University.

    In addition to his academic roles, he contributes actively to the musical community as the Music Director and Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra Ogden, Associate Principal Viola at Ballet West Orchestra/Utah Chamber Orchestra, as well as holding leadership positions in unions like President of Local 104 American Federation of Musicians and President Elect of the American Viola Society.
