Michael Langdon

Senior Advisor (Cycling and Walking) at Department of Transport and Main Roads

Michael Langdon is a dedicated and experienced Senior Advisor within the Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR). He currently leads TMR's Cycling & Walking Technical Research Program, managing Technical Training Courses, overseeing Technical Publications, and enhancing technical competencies in staff and contractors.

With a strong background in Bicycle and Pedestrian Transport Planning, Traffic Data Collection/Analysis, Road Planning/Design, Road Safety, and contract procurement, Michael excels in applying his analytical mind and attention to detail to his work.

He enjoys fostering the development of technical capabilities in individuals by guiding them through tasks and witnessing their growth. Michael has been actively involved in supervising work experience students and mentoring graduates in TMR's program.

In addition to his professional roles, Michael holds various qualifications in Road Safety Auditing, Crash Location Investigation and Treatment, Workplace Training, Street Design, Road Design, Pedestrian and Cyclist Facilities Design, Traffic Management, Australian Standards, Geographical Information Systems, Project Management, among others.

Michael Langdon's educational background includes studies at Craigslea State High School, a Bachelor of Business with a Human Resource Management Extended Major from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Queensland.

Throughout his career, Michael has held key positions within TMR, including roles such as Senior Planner in Active Transport Planning and Senior Advisor in Policy. He has also worked as a Project Officer, a Research Officer, an Advisor, and a Senior Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology. Additionally, he has contributed as a First Responder at St John Ambulance Australia (Qld).
