Michael Cooper
Executive Coach, Director of Capital Investment & Operational Leader in Aviation & Transport
Michael Cooper is currently the Portfolio Director of Development & Construction at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), a position he held from January 2019 to August 2021. In this role, he was responsible for leading a large team focused on delivering an extensive portfolio of projects as part of a significant capital program valued at approximately $650 million per year. His responsibilities included overseeing complex infrastructure redevelopment and ensuring projects were delivered safely and on time, while maximizing business case benefits for the organization.1
Prior to his tenure at GTAA, Cooper served as the Head of Operations Capital Infrastructure Portfolio at Heathrow Airport from January 2016 to January 2019. There, he led a £450 million capital portfolio aimed at enhancing passenger experience, managing a team of over 250 operational colleagues.1 His career also includes experience as a Project Manager at Network Rail, where he led teams in developing electrification projects for strategic railway routes in North-East England.1
Cooper holds a BSc (Hons) in Air Transport Management from Loughborough University and has further qualifications in professional coaching from Henley Business School.1
