Melanie Cruz

Melanie Cruz is a highly accomplished professional with a strong educational background and extensive experience in the field of academic leadership, development, and community engagement.

She graduated from Brawley Union High School and went on to pursue higher education at The Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky.

With a wealth of experience in the academic sector, Melanie currently holds the position of Associate Vice Chancellor at the prestigious University of California San Diego.

Her previous roles at the same institution include Senior Executive Director of Leadership Strategy & Engagement, Executive Director of Biological & Physical Sciences Development, Director and Senior Director of Divisions of Biological and Physical Sciences.

In addition to her work at UC San Diego, Melanie has been involved with several organizations, demonstrating her commitment to community service and engagement.

She has served on the Board of Directors/Board of Advisors at The Center for Community Solutions, as well as on the Board of Directors at organizations such as MANA de San Diego and Arthritis Foundation.

Melanie has also contributed to The San Diego Foundation as a Regional Vision member and worked as the Director of Major Gifts for the SW States at The Ohio State University.

Her diverse experience in academia, leadership, fundraising, and community involvement showcases her versatility and dedication to making a positive impact in various fields.
