Senior Brand Marketing Manager at Pocket Aces

Branding: Although part of an established brand of 9 years, the challenge for us at Compass was to build brand Compass, through education and awareness and by driving the need for such a solution in the market. Incentive automation platforms are common globally, but in India, 95% of enterprise companies still use Excel sheets to process long and tedious incentive calculations. This leads to a staggering 82% error rate, with guaranteed delays in disbursal.

Content and Design: My team was responsible for every piece of content and design within the organization, as well as to external stakeholders. From ad content to e-books, website design and content to social media posts, monthly product update mailers to intensive adoption and engagement modules – my team (of 3!) delivered like 30 rockstars.

Events: While the central team at Xoxoday managed large-scale, branded events, the mandate 
for my team was different – ensure every event yields measurable returns (demos booked). In 
collaboration with an events partner we identified, we churned out 4 Roundtables every month. 
We curated each roundtable and the panelists were chosen from our wishlist companies (as 
provided by the Sales team). This gave our Sales leaders the opportunity to demonstrate the 
robustness of our product to 30-40 captive CXOs in 1 hour! The format did so well for Compass that 
it was then replicated across the other two Xoxoday products – Plum and Empuls. 

Lead Generation: Everything at Compass was done with a startup mindset – all hustle, no money 
to waste. And so, my marketing team and I took it upon ourselves to drive tangible revenue for the 
company. We leveraged multiple channels (paid and organic), experimented with trailblazing
strategies, and arrived at a foolproof method to minimize costs and maximize output. In a span of 
6 months, my team and I were responsible for generating 650 demos across the world, at a 
conversion of 45-50% (industry standard is below 10%).

Web Show Marketing: I was responsible for leading the 360-degree marketing efforts for Dice
Media’s web shows (our long format story-telling brand) including the successful Little Things 2
(syndicated to Netflix) and the hugely popular Adulting Season 2 (that amassed more than 30
million views across Facebook and YouTube). I was also responsible for marketing our food and
lifestyle channel Gobble’s first ever webseries called You Got Chef’d. 
•  Brand Building: We had a unique situation at Pocket Aces – our 3 founders and our channels were more popular and well known than our parentbrand (Pocket Aces)! This presented itself as a challenge than turned into a great brand buildingexercise for my team and me! This meant getting balanced coverage for all our brands; being heard and seen in the right places, with the right people; and periodically submitting awards (and successfully winning almost every award, across categories)! During my tenure, our company (and our founders and the four channels) won Gold at many awards including Entrepreneur, 40 under 40, Forbes India, Social Samosa, Talent Track, and Fox Glove, to name a few.
•  Events: As Brand and Marketing Head, a huge part of my role was identifying the right events
(both online and offline) for any of our brands to be associated with and co-curating the themes
and panels during these events. 
•  Identifying Best Partnerships (for Brands and Talent): I worked with the BD and Sales teams of all
four channels to identify the best brands and most effective brands to work with (we are leaders in
Branded Content Partnerships) that matched our ethos, our storytelling style and resonated with
our audience. 
•  Marketing Loco: Loco was India’s first online live gameshow where more than 200,000 users join the
game real-time (on a mobile app), answer 10 questions (based on General Knowledge) and win
up to Rs 1lakh, every night! Each show was hosted by popular TV personality Gaurav Kapoor.
