Matthew Guss
Matthew Guss is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in various fields including recruitment, consulting, advising, and investing. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies and venture capital and private-equity backed organizations. Matthew specializes in companies that are undergoing transformation, talent acquisition, or high-growth. He currently works as a leader in the human resources and growth practices at Russell Reynolds Associates, where he leads senior HR executive assignments in different sectors such as healthcare, technology, consumer, industrial, and financial services industries.
Matthew has particular expertise in recruitment and has worked in recruiting several hundred Chief People (HR) Officers to partner with them to evolve their executive teams. He also helps his clients build executive capabilities and improve their succession planning. He uses his extensive experience and data-driven insights to act as a thought partner to his clients.
Before his current position at Russell Reynolds Associates, Matthew worked in several best practices insight companies such as I-MARK Corporation as a Partner and National Director of Business Development, Marketing Integration Corporation as President, and the Corporate Executive Board (CEB) for ten years. He received two B.A. degrees in political science and international studies at Yale University.
In his free time, Matthew splits his time between San Diego and San Francisco and engages his entrepreneurial trips, love for travel, and new experiences. He also enjoys adrenaline, food, and wine.
