Matthew L. Goldman, MD, MS

Matthew L. Goldman, MD, MS, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. He is also the Medical Director for Comprehensive Crisis Services in the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Dr. Goldman has a strong focus on mental health crisis services, suicide prevention, and community psychiatry.
He completed his medical education at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and holds a Master’s degree in Health and Medical Sciences from the UC Berkeley–UCSF Joint Medical Program. His residency and chief residency in psychiatry were completed at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Additionally, he has participated in the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship, where he gained experience working in community mental health settings and mobile crisis teams.1345
Dr. Goldman is actively involved in various professional organizations, including the American Association of Community Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Advocacy and Government Relations. He has also served as a policy fellow at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, focusing on health policy and mental health services research.234 His research interests include developing quality indicators for mental health services and implementing systems-level solutions to improve access to care for vulnerable populations.45
